Barcelona signed Slovenian national player up to 2022

Spanish record champion FC Barcelona Lassa published today a new signing for summer on it`s website. The club "have reached an agreement with Montpellier Handball for the addition of Slovenian back Jure Dolenec for the next five seasons".

Jure Dolenec played since 2013/14 for Montpellier, he arrived from Slovenian Gorenje Velenje. The left-handed player born on Ljubljana on 6. December 1988 started his career as an professional player in local side Loka in 2004 and moved to Gorenje in 2011.

The right back is at the moment in the preparation for the upcoming World Cup with the Slovenian national team. The teams starts on 12. January against Angola into the tournament, the other opponents in the race for one of the four tickets to the next round are Spain, Macedonia, Iceland and Tunisia.

"Dolenec is an experienced campaigner with 380 appearances and 106 goals for the Slovenian national side with whom he will be in action in France in the upcoming world championships. In the highly competitive French League he has scored 322 goals in 87 matches with 55 goals in 13 games so far this season. In the current VELUX EHF Champions League season he has 44 goals, on course to surpass his total of 71 from last season", the FC Barcelona introduced the new player.
