Aron Palmarsson is one of the superstars and a key player in the national team of Iceland - but he will not play at the World Cup in France for his country. The backfielder of Veszprem will miss the tournament, according to a report of Icelandic newspaper Morgunbladid the injury problems did not allow a participation.

Aron Palmarsson has once again problems with his hip and groin, past week he said that it will be a "race against time". The backfielder explained: "I suffered the injury in a training camp with the national team in the first days of November and as I played with my club Veszprem in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain the problems returned."

Palmarsson was close to the team in the preparation, but now he cancelled his participation. The Icelandic federation wrote on it`s website that the backfielder travels home after a final medical examination and discussions with the medical team yesterday night. "If I am not able to play with one-hundred percent, I cannot play", Palmarsson announced already a week ago.

A hard setback for Iceland that lost already Vignir Svavarsson because of an injury and fears of the participation of Bjarki Mar Elisson. The final nomination will be made by coach Geir Sveinsson this evening. The opener for Iceland against Spain is scheduled for 12. January and will be hard match at the start of the tournament.
